Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

Point Pleasant shared much of its behind-the-scenes crew with Fox's previous series Tru Calling, and it was greenlit just three days after Tru Calling's production ceased.

Origins

The show's executive producer was Marti Noxon, who had worked closely with Joss Whedon for several seasons on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which initially drew many Buffy fans to the new series.

Reception

Despite the Buffy connection, Point Pleasant had a distinctly 'soapy' tone closer to Melrose Place or The O.C., and this shift in style contributed to a drop in viewership that led to its cancellation.

Filming

Thirteen episodes were filmed in total, but due to low ratings Fox only broadcast the first eight episodes in the United States.

Reception

The unaired episodes eventually found broadcast homes elsewhere: episodes 9 to 11 aired in Sweden, all thirteen episodes aired back-to-back in New Zealand in mid-2007 and in the Netherlands in 2008, and the final two episodes were later included only on the DVD release.

Reception

In 2009, the Chiller network aired episodes of the series, including those that had never been broadcast on Fox.

Casting

The guest cast included Jon Hamm as Dr. George Forrester and Aaron Paul as Mark Owens, both actors who would later become widely known for other roles.
