Coma

The miniseries is based on Robin Cook's 1977 novel Coma, which had already been adapted into a 1978 feature film before this 2012 television version.

Coma was produced by Ridley Scott and his brother Tony Scott, the same duo who previously adapted The Andromeda Strain into a 2008 A&E miniseries.

The miniseries is dedicated to producer Tony Scott, who died in August 2012, just weeks before the show's premiere.

Coma was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, in December 2011.

On Rotten Tomatoes the miniseries holds a 50% score based on 20 critics, with the consensus noting it evokes creepy images but is largely unbelievable in story, dialogue, and performances.

The first two-hour broadcast on September 3, 2012 drew 1.82 million viewers, while the concluding two hours the next day drew 1.52 million viewers, both earning a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49.

Critics were divided: Entertainment Weekly and Newsday both gave it a B grade praising it as a guilty pleasure, while the New York Post called it 'very lame' and 'dopey'.
