Endgame

The series title is stylized as ENDGAMƎ, with a backwards 'E' at the end, evoking a chess-related aesthetic.

The show was developed and produced by Thunderbird Films for the Canadian network Showcase, premiering on March 14, 2011.

The main character, Arkady Balagan, is a former world chess champion who develops agoraphobia after his fiancée is murdered, turning him into an 'armchair detective' in the vein of Nero Wolfe or Lincoln Rhyme.

Showcase announced in early June 2011 that Endgame would not be renewed for a second season.

Despite the cancellation, actor Shawn Doyle was reportedly contracted in February 2012 for a possible return of the series, contingent on the show's success following its premiere on Hulu.

In June 2012 it was officially confirmed that the series would not continue, ending any chance of a revival.

The series found a second life through streaming, becoming available on Amazon Video, Hulu, and the free ad-supported section of Vudu.
