Dr. Daniel Pierce, a neuroscientist and professor, is recruited to help the federal government crack difficult cases. His intimate knowledge of human behavior and masterful understanding of the mind give him an extraordinary ability to read people, but his eccentric view of the world and less-than-stellar social skills can often interfere with his work.

Origins

The series was originally developed under the title 'Proof' and had been on TNT's development slate as early as 2009 before receiving a pilot order in September 2010.

Neuroscientist David Eagleman served as the technical consultant on the series, helping ensure accuracy regarding the depiction of the human brain and perception.

Casting

Eric McCormack's character was originally named Geoffrey Pierce and later renamed Daniel Pierce before the series went to series.
