The Flintstone Kids was the first Flintstones series not to have a laugh track.

Mel Blanc is the only cast member from the original Flintstones series to appear in this show, reprising his role as the voice of Dino (as well as voicing Bob Rubble and Captain Caveman).

The series was only intended to run for two seasons and was retired in favor of another Hanna-Barbera show that also de-aged its main cast, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.

After The New Adventures of Beany and Cecil suddenly failed, ABC brought back reruns of The Flintstone Kids to its Saturday morning schedule in late 1988.

The lead role of young Freddy Flintstone was recast partway through the series, with Lennie Weinrib voicing him in 1986 and Scott Menville taking over in 1987.

The Captain Caveman and Son segment was designed as a show-within-a-show watched by the main characters at Fred's home, frequently breaking the fourth wall.
