First-week sales of the first DVD volume of the first season amounted to approximately 8,639 copies.

The opening theme 'pastel pure' played throughout all three first seasons in a row, remaining an unchanged musical theme for the series, although the endings changed from season to season.

One of the third season endings, 'きれいな旋律' ('Beautiful Melody'), was composed by composer Marty Friedman.

Some background compositions in the series are arrangements of songs by the band ALI PROJECT, to which composer Mikiya Katakura belongs — for example, the 'White Ward' theme in episode 9 of the first season.

In addition to the main series, short comedic bonus skits 'Maria-sama ni Naisho' with simplified (deformed) character designs were released for each DVD volume from the first to the third season; these bonuses were absent in rental disk versions.

From December 2005 to November 2006, the internet radio show 'Maria-sama ga Miteru' aired (19 episodes in total) on the Animate TV website, hosted by voice actress Kana Ueda; later, from August 2008, additional special episodes were released once a month.

In the audio dramas on CD released alongside the anime, the roles were voiced by the same voice actresses as in the animated version, and the drama content followed the original light novels.
