Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

TNA Impact! debuted on June 4, 2004, after the company secured a television deal with Fox Sports Net that gave them a one-hour Friday timeslot, putting TNA on unrestricted cable and satellite for the first time.

Reception

On January 4, 2010, Impact! went head-to-head with WWE Raw for the first time since March 2001, drawing around 4 million viewers in its opening hour before dropping to 2.2 million by the end, the highest viewership in the show's history; Raw drew 5.6 million viewers that night, its best since August 2009.

Trivia

On May 3, 2011, during tapings for the May 12 episode, the show changed its name to Impact Wrestling and adopted the slogan 'Where Wrestling Matters,' also switching its color scheme from red and black to blue, white and gray.

Filming

From June 2004 to March 2013, TNA taped its programming at Universal Studios Florida's Soundstage 21, an area the company dubbed the 'Impact Zone'; TNA officially terminated its lease with Universal Studios in late March 2013 before returning there in November of that year due to the high costs of touring.

Filming

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Impact! tapings were held behind closed doors at Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, starting in April 2020, and crowd noise was piped into broadcasts from January to July 2021.

Music

When the show moved to Pop in January 2016, it received new theme music titled 'Roustabout,' composed by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, along with a new stage and opening intro.

Reception

TNA's Twitch channel was banned for a week in January 2020 after a sexually implicit segment involving wrestler Rob Van Dam aired during that week's episode, with the ban lifted on January 22.

Trivia

On July 17, 2014, after TNA ran a poll on the Impact Wrestling website, the company brought back its distinctive six-sided ring on a permanent basis.

Origins

In mid-2024, TNA began a talent exchange agreement with WWE's NXT brand, leading to NXT wrestlers appearing on TNA programming and vice versa; the two companies confirmed a long-term partnership in January 2025.
