Reckless was created by Dana Stevens as a legal drama series that premiered on CBS on June 29, 2014.

Georgina Haig and Kim Wayans were the first actors cast, taking on the roles of Lee Anne, a Charleston PD officer, and Vi, Jamie's paralegal, in March 2013.

Shawn Hatosy was cast next as detective Terry McCandless, followed shortly after by Anna Wood as lead character Jamie and Adam Rodriguez as detective Preston.

Shooting for the pilot began on March 22, 2013, in Charleston, South Carolina, where the series is also set.

CBS picked up Reckless for a pilot order on May 12, 2013, with a full series order following shortly after.

The series received mixed reviews, holding a 46 out of 100 score on Metacritic and a 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

CBS canceled Reckless on October 9, 2014, after just one season.

The show's ratings ranged from a low of 2.92 million viewers for the twelfth episode to a series high of 4.68 million viewers for the eleventh episode, 'And So It Begins'.
