You Are My Destiny is a remake of the 2008 Taiwanese drama Fated to Love You starring Joe Chen and Ethan Ruan, which had achieved high ratings during its original run.

The series reunited lead actors Jang Hyuk and Jang Na-ra, who had previously co-starred together twelve years earlier in Successful Story of a Bright Girl (2002).

Thanks to Jang Na-ra's popularity in China, the online broadcasting rights were sold for US$120,000 per episode, making it the most expensive Korean drama sold in China at the time.

This sale broke previous records held by Three Days (US$50,000 per episode) and Doctor Stranger (US$80,000 per episode), though it was later surpassed by My Lovely Girl at US$200,000 per episode.

Jang Hyuk and Jang Na-ra won the Best Couple Award and Best Actor/Actress in a Miniseries at the 2014 MBC Drama Awards.

In India, the series was later broadcast on Playflix starting February 23, 2024, with all episodes dubbed in Hindi.
