The Hotwives of Orlando

The Hotwives was developed by Paramount Digital Entertainment as a scripted sitcom parody of Bravo's The Real Housewives reality franchise, and premiered on Hulu on July 15, 2014 as part of the streaming service's push into original scripted programming.

The series was created by Dannah Phirman and Danielle Schneider, with Paul Scheer and Jonathan Stern serving as executive producers.

Co-creator Dannah Phirman also plays a recurring character, Alli, a wannabe hotwife who hangs around the main cast but is not officially a hotwife herself.

Paul Scheer appears in every episode as the show's in-universe executive producer, Matty Green, promoting a fictional after-show called 'The Hotwives Cooldown'; in season two he also plays a second character, Ivanka's magician husband Vance Silversan.

Each character in the show is directly modeled on, or is a mash-up of, real cast members from various installments of The Real Housewives franchise, such as Tawny St. John being based on a combination of Tamra Barney and Gretchen Rossi from The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Dannah Phirman's character Alli is specifically based on Dana Wilkey, a recurring 'friend of the Real Housewives' from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Several actors who played Orlando hotwives in season one returned in season two as different characters in the Las Vegas cast, while Tymberlee Hill uniquely reprised her original character Phe Phe Reed, now relocated to Las Vegas.

The show's popularity led to a second season announcement on January 7, 2015, shifting the setting to a new group of hotwives in Las Vegas, and the series was later picked up for television broadcast on the Pop channel and internationally on Netflix (UK/Ireland) and Canal+ Séries in France.
