/
Origins

The series was created and produced by Shelley Birse, developed through a partnership between Playmaker Media and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Origins

The second season was greenlit by ABC in June 2015 after receiving significant funding from the Australian Capital Territory's film fund, Screen ACT.

Casting

For season 2, new cast members Anthony LaPaglia, Sigrid Thornton, and Robyn Malcolm joined the show alongside the original leads.

Filming

The fictional outback town of Lindara was actually filmed across three different locations: Broken Hill and Silverton in New South Wales, and Cockburn in South Australia.

Filming

The main street and post office in Cockburn were used to double as both the main street and the school in the fictional town of Lindara, while the Lindara families' houses were filmed in Silverton.

Filming

Real Canberra landmarks were used for filming, including the Australian Parliament House, the area around Lake Burley Griffin, and parts of the Australian National University's Acton campus, such as the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Shine Dome.

Reception

The first series aired in the UK on BBC Four as back-to-back episodes over three weeks, causing the final episode to air in the UK on 25 October 2014, more than twelve hours before it was broadcast in Australia on 26 October.
