Accusé

Accusé is a French adaptation of the 2010 British anthology series Accused, created by Jimmy McGovern for the BBC.

The series was originally titled 'Dérapage' before being permanently renamed 'Accusé' ahead of its broadcast.

The first season was filmed in Lyon between January and April 2014.

The first season averaged 3.5 million viewers (14.3% audience share), with episode 5 achieving the series' best rating at 3.9 million viewers (15.1% share).

The series won the Pyrénées d'or for Best Series at the 2016 Festival des créations télévisuelles de Luchon.

French critics noted that, compared to the British original, the French adaptation shifts focus away from the accused character's personality and psychology toward the plot mechanics of the crime itself.

Le Monde critic Martine Delahaye argued the French version wasted the rich, subtle material of the British original, criticizing it for lacking social depth and settling for a sanitized, implausible realism.
