Transformers: Robots In Disguise

The series is a stand-alone sequel to Transformers: Prime, retaining most of the same voice cast for returning characters while adopting a notably more lighthearted tone than its predecessor.

Executive producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who had run Transformers: Prime, did not return for Robots in Disguise.

This was the first Transformers series to make Bumblebee the main protagonist instead of Optimus Prime, who had been the lead in most other entries in the franchise.

The show was produced by Hasbro Studios and Darby Pop Productions in the United States, but animated in Japan by Polygon Pictures.

A six-episode miniseries focused on the return of Starscream first premiered in Canada on September 10, 2016, before airing in the United States the following month.

The third and final season was subtitled 'Combiner Force' and introduced the concept of Autobots combining into larger robots, such as Ultra Bee, mirroring the Decepticon Stunticons' combined form Menasor.

Several Decepticon characters in the series, such as the Scavengers Clawtrap, Paralon, Scatterspike, and Thermidor, were recycled, recolored, and altered redesigns of earlier characters like Clampdown, Scorponok, Quillfire, and Bisk.

The character Polarclaw's appearance and behavior are presented as a homage to a character of the same name from the earlier Beast Wars series.
