Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is the twelfth incarnation of the Hanna-Barbera Scooby-Doo franchise, produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

The show was announced in March 2014 alongside other Warner Bros. classic reboots such as The Tom and Jerry Show and Wabbit.

Producer Zac Moncrief described the series as 'a more comedic ensemble' drawing character traits from the original 1969 series, deliberately nullifying the romantic subplots present in the previous incarnation, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.

The characters were given redesigned models with a 'simplistic, edgy design' to match the comedic tone, though the producers denied it was meant to be a campy or meta version of Scooby-Doo.

This is the first Scooby-Doo television series to not feature Casey Kasem in any capacity; Kasem, who voiced Shaggy from 1969 to 2009 and later Shaggy's father in Mystery Incorporated, retired from voice acting due to declining health and died on June 15, 2014, during the show's production.

Kasem's death left Frank Welker as the only surviving original cast member still associated with the franchise.

The series marks Kate Micucci's debut as the voice of Velma, making it the first Scooby-Doo series since A Pup Named Scooby-Doo where Velma is not voiced by Mindy Cohn.

The show's broadcast plans changed multiple times: originally set for Cartoon Network in 2014, then promoted for Boomerang in 2015, before actually premiering on Cartoon Network on October 5, 2015.

After airing 20 of the first season's 26 episodes, the series went on a long hiatus following the March 2016 episode 'Giant Problems,' with the remaining six episodes only airing in an overnight graveyard slot on Boomerang in June 2017.
