Game Shakers was created by Dan Schneider and premiered on Nickelodeon on September 12, 2015, running for three seasons until its final episode aired on June 8, 2019.

When the series was ordered to series in early 2015, the first season was originally planned to consist of 26 episodes.

The main cast of the series was officially announced on July 7, 2015.

Special guest stars announced for the show included Matt Bennett, Yvette Nicole Brown, GloZell, Jared 'ProJared' Knabenbauer, and Smosh Games host David 'Lasercorn' Moss.

The show's premise centers on the fictional video game 'Sky Whale,' and several in-show games created by the characters, such as 'Sky Whale,' 'Dirty Blob,' 'Tiny Pickles,' 'Nasty Goats,' and 'Llama Llama Spit Spit,' were actually released online and through the Nick app, sharing titles with corresponding episodes.

The series was broadcast internationally, premiering on YTV in Canada on October 6, 2015, in the United Kingdom and Ireland on November 2, 2015, and in Australia and New Zealand on February 8, 2016.

Nickelodeon renewed the show for a second season on March 2, 2016, and for a third season on November 16, 2016, before announcing its cancellation on March 26, 2018, with the series ending after its third season.
