Wolf Creek the TV series is a spin-off continuation of the film franchise, serving as the third installment in the Wolf Creek series.

John Jarratt reprises his role as psychopathic serial killer Mick Taylor from the original films for both seasons of the television series.

In October 2016, John Jarratt suggested that Wolf Creek would return for a second season and a later film, and Stan officially confirmed the renewal in February 2017.

Filming for the second season began in South Australia in July 2017.

The second season shifted to an anthology-style format focusing on a coach full of international tourists, meaning lead actress Lucy Fry did not return as Eve Thorogood from season one.

Greg McLean, who directed the original Wolf Creek films, returned as showrunner and director for the series alongside Kieran Darcy-Smith and Geoff Bennett.

Within the first four days of season one's release, more than 500,000 viewers sampled the program, including 40,000 subscribers who watched all six episodes.

The show's broadcast rights for North America and Latin America were acquired by Lionsgate, airing in the US on the Pop channel from October to November 2016, while in the UK it aired on Fox in August 2016.
