The manga's character Poco was appointed 'Head of Udon Prefecture Public Relations' (a type of tourism ambassador) by Kagawa Prefecture in February 2016, and his image was also used for the main poster of that year's Sanuki Takamatsu Festival.

As a tie-in with the local Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad (Kotoden) featured in the series, a wrapped train nicknamed 'Poco-den' ran on the Nagao Line from November 3, 2014 to October 27, 2016.

In September 2024, manhole covers featuring Poco's design were installed at two locations in Takamatsu: near the JR Clement Inn's east sidewalk and near the Yashima Lecxam Field's west sidewalk.

The manga was serialized in Shinchosha's Monthly Comic @ Bunch from August 2012 to May 2018, then moved to the publisher's web comic site Kurage Bunch, running until February 2019; a final bonus chapter titled 'Yagoshi' was published there in October 2019 but was not included in any collected volume.

Japanese actor Jun Kaname appears as himself in the anime-only role of the Udon Prefecture Vice Governor, providing the preview narration at the end of each episode, mirroring his real-life position as Kagawa Prefecture's vice governor for tourism promotion.

The Sanuki dialect used by the characters was supervised by people from Kagawa Prefecture, including original creator Nodoka Shinomaru, to ensure authenticity in the anime adaptation.

The insert song 'Gaogao-chan Taisou' was performed by the group Gaogao☆Seidan, formed by voice actors Takaya Kuroda, Yui Makino, and Shiho Kokido, and it was also used as the ending theme for episode 7 instead of the regular ending.

The anime includes a spin-off mini-series called 'Gaogao-chan and the Blue Sky,' aired during the C-part of each episode, based on the in-universe children's TV show that Poco loves watching.
