The Package was JYP Pictures' first pre-produced drama, meaning filming was completed entirely before the show began airing.

Filming began on August 13, 2016 in Seoul, South Korea, before the production moved abroad to France, shooting in Paris, Rennes, Saint-Malo, and Mont Saint-Michel from September 5 to October 26, 2016.

Principal photography wrapped in early December 2016, nearly a year before the series premiered on JTBC in October 2017.

The series was broadcast simultaneously in both South Korea and China.

Actors Sung Dong-il, Lee Young-ja, and Lee Seung-joon appeared in special guest roles, with Lee Young-ja playing a woman at the airport in episode 1 and Lee Seung-joon playing a doctor in episode 3.
