Origins

The series is an adaptation of Seven Types of Ambiguity, a 2003 novel by Australian writer Elliot Perlman.

Origins

The six-part miniseries was originally announced to premiere in 2016 but was delayed and eventually first aired on 13 April 2017 on the ABC.

Filming

The series had three different writers (Jacquelin Perske, Jonathan Gavin and Marieke Hardy) and three different directors (Glendyn Ivin, Ana Kokkinos and Matthew Saville) working across its six episodes.

Casting

The cast included Hugo Weaving as Dr Alex Klima alongside Alex Dimitriades, Leeanna Walsman, Xavier Samuel and Andrea Demetriades.

In June 2024, beIN Media Group's TOD, together with production company S Productions and NBCUniversal Formats, announced an Arabic-language adaptation of the series.

The Arabic adaptation, titled 'Mirage' (also known as 'Sarab'), was greenlit for a ten-episode first season and premiered on the streaming platform TOD on 7 January 2025.
