This is the first series produced by Toei Animation for a Marvel property since "Vampire Dracula, the Lord of Darkness" aired in August 1980, marking their return to a Marvel license more than thirty years later.

The series was produced in Japan by Walt Disney Japan following the same model as other Disney productions for the Japanese market such as "Stitch!" or "Fireball", with Marvel intervening only as the license holder.

Originally, the project planned to use existing Marvel characters as human protagonists, but at the request of the Japanese team, original characters such as Hikaru were ultimately created to embody the Avengers' partners.

The character of Noriko Ashida, a mutant called Surge in the X-Men comics, was originally supposed to be an entirely original mutant created for the series, but the team ultimately chose to use this existing character in order not to multiply unpublished characters.

The first names of the characters Edward Grant and Chris Taylor are respectively nods to Edward Norton, who played Hulk in "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), and Chris Evans, the actor of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Iron Man's armor design is primarily inspired by the Mark VI but incorporates certain elements from the Mark VII, such as missiles launched from the shoulders; unlike in the comics and films, this Tony Stark wears only a goatee and not the usual mustache.

Thor's design in the series is more inspired by his appearance in the comics than in the films, while the Falcon's (Sam Wilson) design adopts the cinematic appearance of the character with an uncovered face rather than the purple mask from the comics.

Singer Takanori Nishikawa (T.M.Revolution), who also performs the opening and closing themes of the series, also voices the Silver Samurai character, whose face appears in the center of the theme song CD cover.

A popularity poll conducted during the series' broadcast designated Deadpool as the viewers' favorite hero character and Loki as the favorite villain.

The Guardians of the Galaxy (Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Drax, and Gamora) made a special appearance in the series following the release of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, while Ultron appeared before the release of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" to prepare the audience for this character.
