Deception

The series was developed by showrunner Chris Fedak together with magician David Kwong, who helped shape the show's illusion-based crime-solving premise.

ABC gave the project a pilot production commitment in September 2016, with a full pilot order following in January 2017 and a series order in May 2017.

Lead actor Jack Cutmore-Scott plays a dual role, portraying both protagonist Cameron Black and his twin brother Jonathan Black.

The pilot episode was filmed in New York City starting in March 2017, while production on the rest of the season ran from September 2017 to February 2018.

The show's score was composed by Blake Neely and Nathaniel Blume.

The pilot was screened publicly at San Diego Comic-Con on July 19, 2017, and again at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2017, where cast members and executive producers promoted the series.

Despite being cancelled by ABC after just one season, Deception became an international hit, ranking as the number one show in its timeslot in France under the title 'Cameron Black: l'illusionniste' and breaking viewing records in Germany after only seven episodes.

At E!'s TVScoopAwards, Deception won three awards, including Worst Shocker, Breakout Actor for Jack Cutmore-Scott, and Best New 2017/18 Show.
