The series was filmed between July 25 and October 17, 2016 at various locations in Belgium and France.

Although the story takes place in the fictional village of Montfaucon in the French Ardennes region, scenes were actually filmed in Dinant, Namur, Rixensart and Court-Saint-Étienne in Belgium, and along the Meuse river bends, near Haybes and Fumay in France.

In Court-Saint-Étienne, the scenes of the girls' high school were filmed at Collège Saint-Étienne, a real school, while a former elementary school was converted into a French gendarmerie station, and the scene where Abraham Mendel visits the grave of his wife and baby was filmed in a real cemetery at the foot of the Saint-Étienne church.

The final scene, supposedly taking place near Ostende, was actually filmed in Bray-Dunes near Dunkirk, close to the Belgian border.

Patrick Ridremont, the actor playing Thierry Rouget, explained the importance of the forest in the story with a desire to 'change the setting', noting that 'police dramas have always been centered in the city so far, but a forest is visually very beautiful,' as was the case in other police dramas shot at that time (La Trêve, Ennemi public).

The series won the award for best television series at the 2017 La Rochelle TV Fiction Festival.

The series first aired in Belgium on La Une between May 30 and June 14, 2017, then on France 3 in France on November 21, 2017, and on Netflix in Canada on June 29, 2018; the international Netflix broadcast took place in July 2018.
