Trivia & behind the scenes

/
Origins

The show was TF1's first attempt at a daily early-evening serial format, launched in summer to respond to viewer demand, with only 130 episodes of 26 minutes initially planned before being repeatedly extended.

Filming

Filming takes place in Sète, in the Hérault department, inside a former wine industry factory (Chai Skalli) that was partially converted by Telfrance into a 1,600 m² studio.

Filming

Around 200 technicians work on the production across three crews, one in the studio and two on location, with 50 to 60% of footage shot outdoors, including scenes filmed in the nearby town of Mèze in spring 2018.

Filming

Filming was suspended on 16 March 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings of more than 100 people, and resumed on 18 May 2020, with new episodes returning to air on 15 June 2020; production costs also rose 5 to 10% due to sanitary measures and script rewrites.

Casting

Unlike France 3's approach for Plus belle la vie, TF1 chose to cast already well-known actors such as Ingrid Chauvin, singer Lorie, Alexandre Brasseur and Charlotte Valandrey to lead the show.

Casting

Actress Véronique Genest, known for playing Julie Lescaut, was initially considered for the role of the mayor's widow, an idea later dropped; she was then offered the role of grandmother Marianne but turned it down because she did not want to play a grandmother, and later said she does not regret refusing since she does not like the show.

Music

The original theme song 'Demain', used from episode 1 to 999, was performed by Lou Jean (who plays Betty Moreno) and written by Joyce Jonathan (who plays Emma Trevis), tying the lyrics to the show's title.

Music

Starting with the 1,000th episode in August 2021, the theme song changed to 'Nos lendemains', performed, written and composed by singer Vianney.

Reception

On 10 June 2019, the show aired its first special 52-minute double episode, 'Le Piège', in prime time at 9:05 PM, setting the series' all-time audience record with 4.23 million viewers and an 18% market share.

Reception

Télérama included Tomorrow Is Ours in its Top 10 worst series of 2017, accusing TF1 of caricaturing Plus belle la vie with implausible intertwined family, romantic and police storylines.
