Damon Beesley and Iain Morris met while working as producers on Channel 4's The 11 O'Clock Show and later launched their own production company, Bwark Productions, in 2004, landing The Inbetweeners as their first series.

The show's opening theme is an instrumental version of 'Gone Up in Flames' by the English rock band Morning Runner, and the show's music was chosen by music supervisor and Xfm DJ Marsha Shandur.

For Red Nose Day 2011, the cast toured the UK in the yellow Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii featured in the series for a special called The Inbetweeners: Rude Road Trip, searching for the 50 rudest place names in the country.

The Inbetweeners Movie was made on a budget of £3.5 million but grossed over £57 million worldwide, becoming a major box office success.
