The Velvet Collection

Velvet Colección is a spin-off of the Velvet series, this time centered on the character Clara Montesinos played by Marta Hazas, who had already participated in all four seasons of the original series, while the previous lead Paula Echevarría (Ana Ribera) takes a back seat.

According to producer Teresa Valdés, the ending of Velvet left a sense of incompleteness with the actors, which motivated the development of this spin-off announced in February 2017 under the title Velvet Colección.

Paula Echevarría was initially supposed to appear only in the first two episodes of the spin-off, while remaining open to the idea of a later return to the series.

José Sacristán returned in June 2018 to once again play his character Emilio, who died at the beginning of the first season, but this time in the form of a ghost.

For the final episode aired in late 2019, several emblematic actors from the parent series returned to reprise their roles, namely Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Alberto), Maxi Iglesias (Max), Paula Echevarría (Ana) and Cecilia Freire (Rita).

The series was renewed for a second season as early as October 2017 thanks to good ratings, but Movistar+ ultimately cancelled the filming of a third season in March 2019 to replace it with a special closing television film aired at Christmas 2019.

In Italy, broadcast on Rai 1 following the success of Velvet, the first season of Velvet Colección performed well, but the second season was cancelled after only two episodes aired and then published solely on the RaiPlay platform.

Marta Hazas received the Best Television Actress award at the Iberian Mount Awards 2017, and the series was also awarded in the Best Drama Series category.
