Doki Doki! PreCure was the tenth installment in the PreCure series, airing 49 episodes on TV Asahi from February 2013 to January 2014, with the production theme centered on 'love' and 'the excitement (doki doki) born from love'.

Unlike most PreCure protagonists, who are typically portrayed as energetic but poor students, the heroine Mana Aida (Cure Heart) was designed as an honor student who excels at both academics and sports and serves as student council president, an unusual choice for the franchise.

For the first time in two years since Suite PreCure♪, the series featured a heroine who joins the team partway through the story, and it also revived a viewer-participation contest (last held two years prior) where the public was invited to design a stage costume for the character Makoto Kenzaki.

Kanako Miyamoto, the voice actress for Makoto Kenzaki/Cure Sword, had previously performed ending themes for Yes! PreCure 5 and Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!, and expressed happiness at being involved with the franchise again.

An English localized version titled 'Glitter Force Doki Doki' was produced as the second English adaptation of the PreCure franchise, following the first localized series, and began streaming in North America and Europe in August 2017.

A data-broadcast quiz mishap occurred with episode 5 (aired March 3): the actual end-card character shown was not among the multiple-choice options offered on both the data broadcast and the official website, forcing the production to issue an on-air apology the following week and to award prizes to all participants as compensation.

The series expanded its mobile and social media integration compared to previous installments, including the debut of a dedicated smartphone app and the franchise's first official LINE account, launched to coincide with the release of the standalone theatrical film.
