The series was originally scheduled to premiere on February 5, 2018, but its debut was postponed to February 20, 2018, due to live broadcasts of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, which led to four consecutive episodes airing on the premiere night.

Originally planned as a 32-episode series, the show's run was extended by 8 episodes, bringing the final total to 40 episodes.

In the epilogue of episode 18, aired March 19, 2018, a monologue by character Son Moo-han was found to have used, without credit, the full text of poet Lee Hwon's poem 'When Thoroughly Planned Tomorrow Comes, Yesterday Is Finally Understood.' The production team publicly apologized, explaining that the poem's authorship credit had been mistakenly omitted during production even though it was originally included on the official website.

Kim Sun-a won the Best Actress award in the Grimae Awards (31st edition, 2018) for her role as An Soon-jin, while Kam Woo-sung received the Best Actor award at the 45th Korean Broadcasting Awards and the Male Excellence Award at the 11th Korea Drama Awards.

At the 2018 SBS Drama Awards, both lead actors Kam Woo-sung and Kim Sun-a received the Best Couple Award along with the Daesang (Grand Prize), and Ye Ji-won won the Supporting Actress award for her role as Lee Mi-ra, which she also won at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards.
