In 1994, a toddler disappeared from a small Welsh village, never to be seen again. 23 years later, in London, the mother of rising cello star Matilda Gray commits suicide, without apparent reason. Among her possessions, Matilda discovers tantalising evidence, linking her mother to the Welsh girl's disappearance all those years ago.

Requiem is a co-production between New Pictures for the BBC and Netflix, and was written and created by Kris Mrksa and directed by Mahalia Belo.

All six episodes premiered simultaneously on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 2 February 2018, before becoming available internationally on Netflix on 23 March 2018.

Filming began in March 2017, with principal photography taking place in Wales from June 2017, supported by funding from the Welsh Government.

Cefntilla Court (also spelled Cefn Tilla Court) in Usk, Monmouthshire, served as the country house, Dean House, where the character Matilda stays, while other scenes set in the fictional town of Penllynith were filmed in Newport and Dolgellau.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a 73% approval rating based on 22 critic reviews, with critics describing it as a mysterious thriller with Lynchian elements combined with a compelling character study.
