Impulse

Impulse is based on Steven Gould's 2013 novel of the same name, part of a series following his novel Jumper, and serves as a stand-alone spin-off to the 2008 film adaptation of Jumper.

YouTube commissioned a television pilot on December 15, 2016, based on a script by Jeffrey Lieber with revisions by Gary Spinelli, loosely adapting Gould's novel.

Doug Liman, who directed the Jumper film, was also expected to direct the Impulse pilot, having joined the project as executive producer through his company Hypnotic.

Lauren LeFranc joined the series as showrunner and executive producer on January 13, 2018, after the pilot had already been ordered to series.

Production on the pilot began in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 16, 2016, with additional filming in the Cayuga community of Haldimand County at locations such as Cayuga Secondary School and Toronto Motorsports Park.

On January 13, 2017, the production filmed an accident scene on Kohler Road in Cayuga, and later filming for the rest of the series took place in the Carlisle community of Hamilton, Ontario in October 2017.

Filming for the second season took place in Toronto from February 21 to June 14, 2019.

As part of a viral marketing campaign from June 5–7, 2018, YouTube creators like Kendall Rae, Karina Garcia, and Jacksfilms embedded footage of the show's character Dominick teleporting into and out of their own videos.

The first season received a positive critical response, holding a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 9 reviews, with an average score of 6.70 out of 10.
