On November 5, 2018, CBS fired executive producer Bob Kushell for 'inappropriate language in the workplace,' after which Joe Port and Joe Wiseman were promoted to executive-produce the show.

Although the show is set in New York City, it was actually filmed at Radford Studio Center in Studio City, California.

CBS canceled Fam after just one season on May 10, 2019.
