Actor Alex Jennings, who plays MP Andrew Aldridge in the series, was originally cast as Charles in the 1994 film before being replaced by Hugh Grant due to production delays.

Principal photography for the series began on November 26, 2018, in London, England.

The official soundtrack, 'Four Weddings and a Funeral (Music from the Original TV Series),' was released on August 14, 2019, featuring a mix of cover versions and original songs.

The series received mixed reviews, holding a 42% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 38 reviews and a Metacritic score of 50 out of 100 based on 20 critics.
