Origins

The series was developed as an adaptation of the Swedish science fiction series Äkta människor (Real Humans), but the producers categorically denied that the screenplay was completely original and that the series had a remake status.

After the trailer was released, opinions emerged that the series shared similarities with the Swedish-made Real Humans and the American-made Humans series.

Reception

The project became a finalist in the Works in Progress category of MIPDrama Screenings held as part of MIPCOM 2017 in April 2017 and was selected for the International Panorama program of the Series Mania festival.

In January 2019, the rights to the series were sold to Netflix and it became the first Russian series released under the Netflix Original brand with local dubbing; it was noted that the amount of the agreement may have reached 1 million dollars, which could be considered a record for Russia.

In 2019, the series won the Best Visual Effects (UnitFive) and Best Makeup Artist (Mariya Novikova, Aleksey Ivchenko - prosthetic makeup) awards at the professional awards of the Union of Cinematographers and Television Producers; it also received nominations in the Best Television Miniseries and Best Actress (Paulina Andreeva and Vitaliya Kornienko) categories.

Casting

The name of the superbot Arisa is not accidental; this name is that of a traditional Armenian dish consisting of chicken and wheat oatmeal porridge.

Effects

Ergonomic cyber costumes, highly complex prosthetic makeup techniques, and various gadgets inspired by scientific journals were used in the filming.

Filming

The series' filming began in the summer of 2016 and was completed in the fall of 2017; the producers initially planned to shoot 2 seasons of 8 episodes each.

Trivia

The Central Partnership company offered to show the series in cinemas, but the producers chose to make the series premiere on online platforms by partnering with Channel One.
