Desus & Mero

Desus & Mero was the third series co-hosted by the pair, following the 2014 Complex TV web series Desus vs. Mero and the 2016 Viceland series Desus & Mero.

In June 2018, Showtime announced it had ordered a half-hour late night series starring Desus and Mero, marking the network's first-ever late night show.

The hosts said the increased budget compared to their previous shows would allow for more pre-recorded sketches, a research team, and an upgraded set, and they hired a writer's room including Mike Pielocik, Josh Gondelman, Claire Friedman, Ziwe Fumudoh, Robert Kornhauser, and Heben Nigatu.

The series debuted on February 21, 2019, with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the first-ever guest.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show went on temporary hiatus before returning on March 30, 2020, in a teleconferencing format broadcast from co-hosts Desus (Baker) and Mero (Martinez)'s respective homes.

The show ended abruptly after its June 23, 2022 episode when the two co-hosts decided to pursue 'separate creative endeavors,' a move widely rumored to stem from a behind-the-scenes conflict over their longtime manager Victor Lopez, whom Showtime reportedly barred from meetings and tapings after complaints of abusive conduct.

Hosts Desus and Mero received a 2019 Webby Special Achievement Award for their talk show.

The show received largely positive reviews, with critics praising its fresh, comic perspective and the rare inclusion of Black and Latino viewpoints in the late-night talk show landscape.
