This Is Silvia Pinal

The series is based on the life and autobiographical book 'Esta soy yo: Silvia Pinal' written by Silvia Pinal herself, and was produced by Carla Estrada for Televisa.

The project was confirmed in December 2016 with filming expected to start in February 2017, but in May 2017 Televisa announced it was canceling the series before later clarifying it was only postponed.

Producer Carla Estrada explained the delay by saying it was 'a project that does not interest Televisa at the moment,' and pre-production only resumed in November 2017, with official production confirmed on 16 November 2017.

Filming officially began on 17 September 2017 and concluded on 20 April 2018.

Fernanda Castillo was initially considered to play the adult Silvia Pinal due to her physical resemblance to the actress, but she turned down the role because she was already filming the series 'El Señor de los Cielos'.

Carla Estrada confirmed Itatí Cantoral as the adult protagonist through her Twitter account on 28 March 2017.

Several actresses were cast to portray Silvia Pinal at different stages of her life, including Mía Rubín, Gala Prieto, Lara Campos, Nicole Vale and Sylvia Pasquel.

Silvia Pinal herself appeared in the series as the narrator, playing herself alongside Itatí Cantoral's portrayal of her younger and adult self.
