The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs

Over 17 years after MonsterVision was cancelled, Joe Bob Briggs tweeted that Shudder had shown interest in reviving the series, leading to an official announcement on June 25, 2018.

The original July 2018 Marathon was a 24-hour live broadcast featuring 14 horror films, marking the first revival of Briggs' hosting work since MonsterVision ended.

Diana Prince, a former adult actress, was cast as Darcy the Mail Girl and became a regular co-host, appearing in movie-themed outfits and bantering with Briggs throughout the series.

The fourth season premiere on March 16, 2022 featured the show's 100th film, Night of the Living Dead (1968), hosted with guest Svengoolie, and included Antropophagus, the first movie Briggs ever reviewed in his column.

A spin-off called 'Just Joe Bob' was launched on April 19, 2021, providing a permanent archive of Briggs' segments and commentary without the full films.

The Silver Bolo Award was discontinued by Shudder after Season 3 due to controversy when Ghastly Grinning turned it down during the previous season.

On March 7, 2026, the Series 7 finale was announced as the actual series finale with no prior indication, surprising fans and ending the regular series, though Shudder commissioned 4 additional specials.

Season 6 was filmed at the backlot studio in Senoia, Georgia where The Walking Dead has filmed, and featured 30 films, the most of any season.
