Imma Tataranni

The series is freely adapted from the five novels by Mariolina Venezia featuring the same character of Imma Tataranni.

Filming of the first season began on November 6, 2018 and took place mainly between Matera and Metaponto, with other locations including Ginosa, Bernalda, the badlands of Montalbano Jonico, the port of Policoro, La Martella and the Monte Cotugno dam in Senise.

The final scenes and many interiors of the first season, such as the protagonist's office, were shot in Rome rather than in Matera.

For the second season, filming also extended to the Val d'Agri, between Marsicovetere, Marsico Nuovo, Viggiano and Abriola, in the area of the Appennino Lucano national park.

Filming of the third season began in early 2023 in Rome studios for the interiors, then continued in Matera in spring, introducing new locations such as the gravina of Laterza and the rupestrian village of Rivolta in Ginosa in Puglia.

Filming of the fifth and final season took place in Matera between September and October 2025 and in Rome, including as locations the San Camillo-Forlanini hospital company, as well as Venosa, the lakes of Monticchio, the Volture Park and the La Palomba Sculpture Park.

The soundtrack of all seasons was composed by Andrea Farri; in the second season the song Perdiamoci is performed by Chiara Civello, guest star of the third episode, co-author of the text with Farri and Emanuele Trevi.

In the third season, the composition Ladri di futuro features the participation of trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso.

Vanessa Scalera won the Flaiano Prize in 2020 as best female performance and in 2025 the award as best lead actress in a drama series at the Italian Global Series Festival.
