The series was created by Dan Sefton and stars Elen Rhys as a Welsh detective and Julian Looman as a German detective solving crimes together on Mallorca.

Cosmopolitan Pictures founder Ben Donald said the show stemmed from a desire to create a feel-good, action-driven cop show like those he grew up with, and to rebrand and refresh the Anglo-German relationship on television.

While the first two series aired on BBC One, the third series moved to Amazon Prime Video, reflecting a shift in the show's co-production partners.

Filming of the second series was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in only six of the planned ten episodes being produced instead of the full order.

The unfilmed episodes from the disrupted second series, written by Rachael New, Alex McBride, Jackie Okwera and Emily Fairweather with Rob Evans set to direct, were expected to be carried over into the third series.

Despite being announced as part of the cast prior to the second series premiere, Nacho Aldeguer and Tanya Moodie did not return, even though Moodie had become a regular cast member.

The third series was filmed on location in Mallorca between March and July 2023, ahead of its August 2024 premiere on Prime Video.

The soundtrack for the first series was composed by Charlie Mole and features guest vocals from Anna Ross on the show's opening and closing theme tracks.

Series 1 was also broadcast internationally, airing in France on France 2 in June 2020.
