The series is adapted from the same-titled novel published in 2018 by writer Lee Do-woo.

The first script reading of the series took place in October 2019 at the JTBC Building in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea.

On March 3, 2020, it was announced that filming of the series would be suspended for a week as a precaution against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the filming break, episodes 5 and 6, originally scheduled to air on March 9 and 10 respectively, were postponed to March 16 and 17.

The original soundtrack album of the series was released in seven parts; the first part came out on February 24, 2020 with the song 'Like a Dream in Winter' performed by Kwak Jin-eon.

The final part of the soundtrack, a song titled 'Where Memories Remain, Now' performed by Young-eun, was released on April 21, 2020, the same day as the series' finale.
