The show was originally slated to air during the 2010–11 television season as a mid-season replacement but was delayed until summer 2011.

Only twelve episodes aired on NBC, and the thirteenth episode was made available exclusively through iTunes, Amazon.com, and Netflix instead of broadcast.

The series was originally developed for ABC, which gave it a script order in September 2009 but ultimately did not greenlight a pilot, allowing NBC to pick up the project instead.

Casting

For the original pilot episode, Fran Kranz was cast as Aaron and Ian Reed Kesler played a character named Hoon, an earlier version of the character who would become Fitz.
