Below Deck Sailing Yacht was developed as the second spin-off of the original Below Deck series and premiered on Bravo on February 3, 2020.

The show follows the crew of a 177-foot (54 meter) sailing yacht, the Parsifal III, as they work through charter seasons in different Mediterranean locations each season, including the Ionian Islands (Greece), Croatia, Menorca (Spain), Sardinia (Italy), and Ibiza (Spain).

In August 2023, Rolling Stone published claims by former makeup artist Samantha Suarez that production helped cover up an incident in which star Gary King tried to force himself on her during filming of season 4 in summer 2022.

According to Suarez, after she informed production of the assault, they initially offered to fire King but instead instructed him to sleep on the boat during non-filming days rather than removing him from the show.

Two other production members told Rolling Stone that Gary King had also touched a female cast member's butt inappropriately despite her telling him to stop, and had grabbed a production crew member's genitals on two separate occasions while inebriated.
