Die Hart originally premiered as a short-form series on the streaming service Quibi on July 20, 2020, before that platform shut down.

After Quibi's content library was sold to Roku, Inc. for less than $100 million in January 2021, the series was rebranded as a 'Roku Original' and moved to The Roku Channel.

The first season was later re-edited into a feature film of the same name, Die Hart, which was released on Prime Video in February 2023.
