Drunk

Drunk

Definitely a missed opportunity. Great topic but bad execution (not due to the acting, which is splendid). I mean, yes, it does show the consequences of alcohol abuse and yes, it shows how it starts off harmlessly, slowly progressing into something that completely ruins your life. And I can even accept that the idea of starting it as a so called psychological study into the effects of alcohol was meant symbolically, like you always find a reason to drink and drink more (or maybe I can’t suspend disbelief at this point). But I have to agree with the critics that yes, it also glorifies drinking: the teacher becomes better at his job, the student passes his exam, they all have fun. And it is these parts that take away from the point being made. Íf that was the aim of the movie. If not then it’s even worse than I thought….
