'할라' - Hala

i never ever write reviews but this is my most hated film of all freaking time. muslim women barely get any films made about us and when we do its some white saviour bullshit about us secretly hating our religion, being "forced" to wear our scarves and need to be "liberated" by the boys around us. and everyone goes around hailing this, at best mediocre, by the numbers, formulaic shite as the muslim voice we all neeeded and go around thinking they need to free us from "oppresion". you dont want to wear a scarf ? absolutely fine, you do you, but dont make us out to be poor helpless souls who need to be freed from this absolute torture device of a soft headscarf.
