O Pequeno Urso Misha

The series is based on Misha, the little bear created by Soviet illustrator Viktor Chizhikov as the official mascot of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, and which also represented the Soviet Olympic delegation.

It was the first anime to feature an official Olympic mascot as its protagonist, something unprecedented at the time of its broadcast, and would later influence subsequent productions such as Eagle Sam (mascot of Los Angeles 1984) and Cobi's Adventures (mascot of Barcelona 1992).

In episode 1, the opening and closing were not yet finalized: the credits with the lyrics of the theme songs were omitted, being used only from episode 2 onwards, in a version considered 'complete', with the credits of the technical team and the theme in blue.

In episode 18, Kunta appeared as a guest character, the mascot of Hokkaido Television Broadcasting (HTB), which at the time was broadcasting the series; later Kunta and Misha appeared together in the 31st Sapporo Snow Festival, at the HTB Snow Plaza.

The animation production of Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, which had been continuous since Fushigi na Melmo in 1971, was interrupted for about a year after the end of this series, only resuming in March 1981 with Ohayo! Spank.

The series was rebroadcast in Japan by Home Drama Channel in 1999 and by AT-X channel in 2009; until 2021 it had never been released on DVD or Blu-ray in Japan, being available only on paid video platforms.

In Portugal, the series premiered in 1981 on RTP with Portuguese dubbing; later it was released on DVD by the distributors New Age Entertainment and Play Entertainment with a different dubbing.

In the Portuguese version, the opening theme was performed by the TAP Children's Choir and the closing theme by the TAP Club Children's Choir, maintaining the original Japanese music but with lyrics translated from the Spanish adaptation.
