This film Relays the events that happened in WW2 to an extent. I like this one because it focuses on the crew. It was a ship that was classified as ‘ undercover’ so when it sank no one knew. All those lives eaten by sharks because of ‘the mission’ more than 75% of men onboard were killed by sharks. Because of atomic bomb it was hushed mission. Needless list lives! So sad!

This is the Titanic infused with Jaws in war form with extremely poor graphics.

Por ser baseado em fatos reais, merecia uma produção melhor. Ainda assim, vale assistir pela história (que eu não conhecia). Pesquisei na Wikipedia e o filme foi muito fiel ao acontecido. Final com várias imagens reais.

So, what happen to the squirrely second-in-command that took off on that raft with four other guys paddling toward "spotted land" ?

I can't even imagine the terror those boys went thru and the suffering the captain did after. Wasn't right what they did to him may he rest in peace. At least the survivors fought to have him exonerated in 2000.

I read the synopsis for this movie and I said “Holy shit this is the story Quint tells in JAWS and it has Cage! I’m in!”

Was a compelling movie. One of Nick (Coppola) Cage’s hits (he has some misses too!). His performance was subtle and appropriate. No crazy Nick. The main disappointment for me was the inaccuracies. Even small, ones, such as the Indianapolis being torpedoed on the Starboard (Right) side. It was actually struck on the Port (left) side. May seem a minor detail, but those men deserved better attention to detail. But of a Pear Harbour rip off dramatisation wise, down to the two best friends wanting the same girl, with one dying and the other stepping in to marry the girl and raise his friend’s child. The movie even has Tom Sizemore playing the crotchety veteran engineer!!! The CGI was also a bit dodgy. A story that definitely needed to be told! Just needed to be told better and with more respect for the details! A good WWII film, but after you watch it, look up the story on Google. The accurate and true story is much more compelling!

It’s scary how easy it is for the government to “turn” on you, simply because they need a scape goat. Loyalty has to go both ways. I cannot imagine how terrifying it must have been to be in that water. Favourite scene? Nicolas Cage asking if he could have done anything else to have saved his men. That was a truly powerful scene, and the respect shown by both men was admirable. Such a terrible event in history. The survivors at the end broke me. 💛
