Zack Snyder's Justice League Seven oN ★ 8
The first (half an) hour or so got me wondering what I was watching, it all felt “fake” (for lack of a better word at the moment), both the details of the story as well as the scenes. But after that it picked up and especially the second half of the movie had me glued to the screen. Very enjoyable overall; I’m missing all six of them already! 0
Wrong Turn - The Foundation Seven oN ★ 7
Suspenseful and enjoyable movie, though it did have a few eye rolling moments. What I especially liked was its focus on how we interpret behavior based on what we are used to, our frame of reference. Something we often have to do, cause you often can’t wait or ask, like in this case it would otherwise mean waiting until they would actually kill them before acting. I also noticed how they claimed to uphold certain values but nonetheless contradicted those with their actions, very much like irl too. 0
Kill Bill - Volume 1 Seven oN ★ 7
Well of course this is a movie different from all other movies (as expected) and therefore I enjoyed it very much the first time I watched it. The second time around, well, I still enjoyed it, the story is great, but I enjoyed it less than the first time around. It was just a little too much for me, especially in the second half. 0
Shadow in the Cloud Seven oN ★ 2
Horrible acting (standing rock still while a plane flies right over your head or while you’re hanging out a flying aircraft and shooting at some gremlin), just some screaming and panting but nothing more, fake scenes, pore story, terrible directing. In short, go watch something worthwhile. 0
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Seven oN ★ 8
At first I thought it would be solely an action and fighting movie but boy was I wrong. Wonderful story, great world building, beautiful choreography, gorgeous scenes, perfect combo of action, humor love and magic. 0
Escape Room 2: No Way Out Seven oN ★ 6
Hmm, really liked the first movie but this one just wasn’t as good. I don’t know if it was due to the acting or it being more of the same thing. I always like plot twist at the end, but I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I guess they just want to squeeze a third movie out of it. 0
Black Box - Gefährliche Wahrheit Seven oN ★ 5
Knowing this was a low budget movie I thought it was good and enjoyable enough. Believable acting and nice twist (though you suspect something is coming up). Some scenes did look quite fake however, it would’ve been better if they had left them out. 0
Der Rausch Seven oN ★ 5
Definitely a missed opportunity. Great topic but bad execution (not due to the acting, which is splendid). I mean, yes, it does show the consequences of alcohol abuse and yes, it shows how it starts off harmlessly, slowly progressing into something that completely ruins your life. And I can even accept that the idea of starting it as a so called psychological study into the effects of alcohol was meant symbolically, like you always find a reason to drink and drink more (or maybe I can’t suspend disbelief at this point). But I have to agree with the critics that yes, it also glorifies drinking: the teacher becomes better at his job, the student passes his exam, they all have fun. And it is these parts that take away from the point being made. Íf that was the aim of the movie. If not then it’s even worse than I thought…. 0
Minari - Wo wir Wurzeln schlagen Seven oN ★ 6
Such a difficult movie to rate. It had great potential and after watching the trailer, I had high expectations. Maybe my expectations were too high, inevitably leading to disappointment. Though the acting wasn’t bad, I just didn’t care much for the characters. I liked the story that was told, but only with my mind, not with my heart. 0
Conjuring 3: Im Bann des Teufels Seven oN ★ 8
Oh man, people are more and more demanding and more and more difficult to please. You didn’t find it scary? Well, neither did I. Hardly anything scares me anymore in movies. But it certainly has a very eerie atmosphere, good plot and great acting. And I just love Patrick and Vera. Well worth the watch. 0
Die Magie der Träume Seven oN ★ 9
How can you not love this movie? It has sadness and sorrow, joy and happiness combined with beautiful magic. All of that in a meaningful plot. Loved the hints to Peter Pan as well as Alice in Wonderland. With original twists. Beautiful scenery and lovely, magical acting. I have grown up, but who knows, maybe that can be undone…. A message of hope and courage 💜 “It’s not their expectations inside you it’s their dreams.” “Long ago in a far away land there was a family. By day the children did as they were told. And in the innermost places of their hearts they worried about what it might mean to grow up. But at night when their hearts lay still and sleeping, their golden dream dust filled the room and took them far, far away.” “It’s not time to grow up, it never is.” 0
