Die Heineken Entführung Seven oN ★ 6
Though there are reviewers who liked the acting, especially compared to other Dutch movies, for me the acting didn’t feel natural, it was still very much “ acting” (except for Rutger Hauer of course, excellent performance). On top of that the story doesn’t represent what truly happened (I didn’t know that beforehand). It did manage to pique my interest though so I’ll be reading some books on the kidnapping and on Holleeder’s life. 0
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Seven oN ★ 8
Again, a great movie with good acting and awesome images. Loved Namor (really hope (and expect) to see more of him). Loved the tribute to Chadwick. The loss and heartbreak felt so real. Interesting developments. Black Panther will return… My heart can’t accept that (yet?)… 0
Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody Seven oN ★ 8
How I loved Whitney Houston, her voice, her songs. I experienced quite a lot of goosebumps in the day, listening to her music. And how shocked I was when I heard of her death…so young… So yeah, obviously I shed quite some tears watching this movie, also because of the great acting, Tamara Tunie in particular. I truly felt her pain. Naomi did an excellent job as well, though for me she was slightly less convincing. I have to admit this might be due to a wrong image I have of Whitney, but I just felt less sympathy for Naomi, perhaps because to me her expression is…don’t really know how to express it, less open and warm…? But obviously a great movie nonetheless, I keep thinking about it. 0
3 Engel für Charlie Seven oN ★ 7
Though I can’t remember much about the previous Charlie’s Angels, apparently I liked it (gave it 7/10). Maybe the movie was truly different from this one or I was in another “fase” of my life… This one just wasn’t really for me. I loved the tv series and it kind of hurt watching this so called funny, over the top movie… 0
Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora Seven oN ★ 10
It’s still an amazing movie, this second time watching, more than 13 years later. Absolutely visually stunning, emotionally extremely engaging and (unfortunately) a very good portrayal of the awful things human beings are capable of. Need to process it (again)…. 0
Crazy, Stupid, Love. Seven oN ★ 7
Watched the first half yesterday, it was so so. Not particularly original or entertaining. But today I decided to watch the second half nonetheless and I’m happy I did. It was funny, sweet and entertaining. Laughed out loud a couple of times (making my cat jump) and loved the sweet ending. Maybe I would’ve given it 7/10 stars had I watched it in one go, but I loved this second half so much, I have to give it 8/10. Edit: on second thought, changed it back to 7/10 0
Zeiten des Umbruchs Seven oN ★ 7
A lot (of real life issues) going on in this movie and as a result nothing really gets fleshed /worked out very well. Or at least, not as well as it could’ve been. It’s still a good movie with important topics though. There’s this family, supposedly rich, at least in the eyes of the MC, but in reality not well off at all. A so called close family according to some reviewers (based off on them eating together) but in reality not really close at all. A so called ill behaved little brat, until we find out he’s being physically abused and may have a learning disability (which apparently makes him a let down to his parents). And there’s the MC’s friend dealing with racism and everything that comes with it. Problems, which indeed do not occur only in this family or just incidentally (as some reviewers have pointed out). Unfortunately there are a lot of families facing all kinds of problems. There are a lot of people having to deal with racism too. So does that mean those aren’t suitable as themes for a movie? Is the message that this movie is trying to portray “Life is not fair”? Imho: no and no. As Hopkins says: “It is hard, but you have to keep fighting! You can’t give in/give up.” I believe thát is the message. 0
Der Spion, der niemals stirbt! Seven oN ★ 4
Ok, so let me start by stating that I’m not a big fan of over the top, silly comedies. There have been some exceptions though. Not this one unfortunately. Yes, there were some funny scenes but overall this movie just wasn’t for me. 0
Der Tinder-Schwindler Seven oN ★ 8
Very interesting and engrossing documentary with a good setup. Remarkable are some of the comments from people with apparently no empathy at all. Though maybe those are all from people who didn’t watch the entire documentary. It’s so easy to say “It would never happen to me”, until it does. Seen it so many times… The end broke my heart: 5 months in jail and back to living his old life…. 0
Don't Worry Darling Seven oN ★ 7
Thought I’d would be another Perfect Housewives but it had a nice twist and posted some interesting questions so definitely enjoyed it. Just the end didn’t make much sense as Alice had already been there, apparently without Jack knowing, so that could/should’ve led her to the exit already… 0
