Insidious is a great movie suffering from “one too many sequels”-syndrome. I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Hoping though that this will be the last and that they’ll spend their time and money on a movie with a new premise/plot. 0

Very powerful, though heartbreaking and heavy movie with an important message. Those children(’s acting) really touched my heart and soul. The message at the end though was not necessary imo. Also it’s an incomplete message. I can understand they want to raise awareness of how big of a problem child trafficking is, children being used in the sex industry and the need for law enforcement from different countries working together better, but what can I /we do as “simple citizens”?? Also, the leading actor and perhaps the agent his character is based on, seem to be problematic. The actor has been a prominent promoter of the false, violent QAnon conspiracy theory. The formal federal agent the character is based on as well as the film distributor reject any of the conspiracy theories. Though apparently the agent has recently said that (the abduction and killing of children for) the harvesting of a substance called adrenochrome, is real. The movie itself however has nothing to do with QAnon, it does not have any references to any conspiracy theories and was even filmed before QAnon started (source: NPR). Another criticism is the amount of fictionalization of the true events. As if Ballard would be able to take up a whole crime syndicate on his own. The studio acknowledges taking "creative liberties."(source: NPR). Well, no surprise there. This isn’t the only studio doing this and they never made the claim that this was a documentary instead of a (dramatized) movie based on true events. So imo still a good movie and most definitely worth the watch. 0

Ok, maybe not the best of movies but definitely not the worst! Actual topic, interesting premise, definitely horror instead of drama as some reviews state. Enjoyable enough. Maybe, just maybe, it’s rather a 5/10 instead of a 6/10 but I definitely feel the need to compensate for the horrible reviews… 0

I’ll have to subtract a star from my rating cause this movie strays away from the book so much, that it can hardly be called an adaptation. As a movie on its own I really liked it though. Part mystery, part “horror”, it kept me hooked from start till end, giving me the occasional goosebumps. Definitely worth while the watch! 0

Enjoyable enough movie about the dangers of AI. No great surprises, except for the simulant killing his “wife” which at the end made sense. Illustrates the importance of equality/feeling like equals in any kind of relationship. 0

Fun cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns plus a fair amount of humor. Loved the cast and the atmosphere. I was invested throughout the whole movie and found myself grinning quite often. Very enjoyable! Hoping for a part 3! 0

Again, I loved this movie. I was so afraid this would be the last one but apparently more are coming, yay! I do hope it’s with the whole gang. Cause it’s the gang that evokes all these emotions: joy, happiness, grief, sadness, anger, frustration, hate, etc etc. Loved to get to know more about Rocket’s past, it was heartbreaking. Definitely looking forward to the next installment! 0

Wow, so many themes, thoughts and emotions , just don’t know where to start… A small selection: - The impact of upbringing on the “clean slate” of a new borne. - The impact of social and economic status on life style and upbringing. - The inner vs the outer self, being different, being judged because of your outer self and being different. And being hurt just because of that, and despite having a beautiful inner self. I cried so much for Chappie! - It’s not all black and white, even when talking about crimes, good vs evil. I laughed, I cried, I even came to love the “gangsta’s”. Loved how the love and goodness of Chaplin changed even Ninja. He not only got to know love but got to protect “his child”. His last a sorry was a true, heart felt one. 💜 0

Great adaptation. Of course parts are missing cause you just can’t depict a whole book in 1 ¾ of an hour. The time travel particularities are even more of a question mark in the movie than the book. Nonetheless, I loved the emotions and relationships portrayed. 0

A beautiful, moving film with great performances by the lead characters. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would after reading the plot summary. Was the ending predictable? Yes. Did that take away from the film? Absolutely not! 0

A good enough drama with an excellent performance by Freeman but Florence Pugh didn’t convince me. I just couldn’t sympathize with the highly annoying Allison partly due to how Pugh portrays her pain, it kept me reminding me of other movies where she portrays pain in exactly the same way, keeping me from fully immersing in the story. 0

Love According to Dalva

Very powerful movie that hits you right in the gut. Dalva slowly realizing what has happened, the truth about her mom, how other children live their lives, what friendship is… The scene where she realizes why her dad dyed her hair was very impactful. A tough movie but definitely recommend it! 0

Such a beautiful movie, beautiful in all its aspects. It touches on so many meaningful themes. How bonds are formed. How loss is processed. How to reach your inner child (search the door!) to give comfort, given all it’s been through/all it will have to go through. Loved how the circle was completed: Suzume had a feeling she’d seen Souta before. Because she had: when her older self waves goodbye to her younger self. Then enhancing this bond by their joint adventures while saving the world, their care for each other. And then that imagery, just astonishing! I just felt sad that Daijin “couldn’t be her cat”…. 0

Ok, so the plot has nothing new and is quite predictable but the acting is great and I thoroughly enjoyed the revenge scenes. Though I don’t think revenge is the way to go irl, watching it in movies can really be cathartic 😂😇 0

Oh….my…God, what did I just watch? A drained premise/plot, full of cliches and plot holes where the action just can’t save the movie due to awful, cringy dialogue and extremely bad acting (with the exception of Frank Grillo). 0

Enjoyed this so much, maybe I enjoyed it even more having watched it with friends. It has a good enough story, fun characters and lots of -laughing out loud-moments. If you’re into not scary slasher comedies than this is the movie for you! 0

Ok, is it as good as the original? No. The acting feels less authentic, more theatrical. I often didn’t understand Dr. Gene’s choices. Nor did I fully understand the (why so small) part that Sharon played. The original movie simply was more eerie and engrossing, a classical example of less being more. Was it bad then? No! It has good cinematography and an interesting plot. I enjoyed it and I’m actually looking forward to watching the third movie! 0

Wow, just wow. This was filmed 50 years ago and scared the living hell out of me. Even though the feeling is different (I no longer watch it with a pillow covering most of my eyes) I still feel this heaviness in my stomach, a slight nauseous feeling in my throat. Awesome effects, awesome acting and awesome atmosphere. Never did it feel like a 2 hour movie. Great movie, truly great (can you tell I’m a fan, all over again?)! 0

Again, I didn’t watch this one back when it was released, so no nostalgia here. And yes, some awful scenes, like the chopped of head or the (laughing?) meat in the cold store. And some very bad acting, especially by Nancy Allen. But also some neat scenes (throwing out all of my mirrors), eerie atmosphere and nice ending to the trilogy. “Her nightmare is over.” 0

This was my first watch so it missed the nostalgic feel I had when rewatching the original yesterday. However, I enjoyed it almost as much. Sure, it had his “silly moments” as some reviewers state, but if we’re supposed to take into consideration that the original was made 40 years ago, why shouldn’t we do the same with this sequel. It was definitely eerie enough and I loved the original cast. 0
