Frequently asked questions
Tracking, the price, the team, your data, imports. If your question isn’t here, write to us and we’ll answer.
Discover Seenr
A logbook for your series and films. You check off what you watch, Seenr keeps track, tells you which episode comes next, sorts your library into "to watch", "watching" and "finished", and suggests what to watch based on your taste. You can also rate, write a review and follow your friends.
Seenr is built by ByUs SARL, an independent studio based in Paris. Behind the app, a team of enthusiasts building the very tool they wanted to use themselves. No shareholders to please, no acquisition waiting to happen: we move at our own pace and keep it the way we like it. When you write to us, a real human answers.
Same gestures, but free and ad-free. If you’re coming from TV Time, the import brings your whole history over with its dates, nothing to re-enter. And Seenr goes further: on the web and on mobile, in fourteen languages, with recommendations tuned to your taste.
A fair question, and one worth asking: we’ve all seen beloved services vanish overnight. Nobody can promise forever, but Seenr is built to last: costs kept in check, no investors in a hurry to be paid back, a team that uses it every day. And above all, the safety net is there from the start: your data stays exportable at any time, in standard formats and in our open format. You’re never locked in, whatever happens.
No. Seenr works in the browser, on desktop and on your phone. An iOS and an Android app are there if you prefer. Same account, same data everywhere.
How Seenr is funded
There isn’t one. No ads, and we don’t sell your data: a “free” service that turns you into the product is exactly what we didn’t want to build. Seenr is free because it costs little to run, and because ByUs, the studio behind it, funds itself.
Right now, we don’t: Seenr is carried by ByUs, which lives off its other projects. Let’s be honest, that doesn’t hold forever. What comes next is an optional premium subscription, for those who want to go further and support the project. Ads and data selling stay two closed doors.
Extra features, nice to have but not essential: deeper statistics, personalisation, export and automation options, that kind of thing. Nothing is set in stone, and we want to hear your ideas. The rule is simple: if a feature is there to track your shows and films, it stays free.
No. Tracking, import, export, statistics, recommendations, the social side: everything that’s free today stays free. Premium will only add on top, never take back what was given. We use Seenr every day, we wouldn’t do that to ourselves.
Day to day
The core gesture is checking off an episode once you’ve watched it. From there, Seenr tracks your progress, works out your "Up next" (the first unwatched episode of each show you’re watching) and flips a series to "finished" as soon as everything is checked. For a film, one tap is enough: "watched".
Yes, in real time. There’s only one account: what you check on your phone shows up on your computer straight away, and the other way round. Nothing to back up or sync by hand.
From its page you add a rating, write a review and pick the emotions you felt. It all comes together as your "opinion", which you can keep private or make public. You can even rate season by season and episode by episode.
Yes. You can follow friends, see their activity, compare your tastes and discover things to watch through them. You stay in control of what’s visible: your library and reviews stay private until you choose to share them.
Fourteen, including Arabic in right-to-left reading. Catalog pages (titles, summaries, genres) are translated automatically into your language. You pick the language in your settings and it follows you everywhere, emails included.
Your data and privacy
It’s there to run Seenr for you, and nothing else: your history, your ratings, your recommendations. We don’t sell it and we don’t hand it to anyone, not even the highest bidder. The site’s analytics are cookie-free and anonymous. The details are in our privacy policy.
Yes, any time, from your settings, without asking anyone. You get your whole library in standard formats (CSV, Excel, Letterboxd, IMDb, Notion) and in Watchlog, our open format that any other service can read. It’s a matter of principle: your data isn’t held hostage, it’s as easy to take out as it is to bring in. The day you want to leave, you leave with everything.
From your account settings, in a few seconds. Deletion is permanent and wipes your history, your ratings and your reviews. We’d rather you stayed, of course, but the door stays wide open: no hidden retention, what’s deleted is really gone.
Importing your library
It’s the heart of Seenr, and it’s all laid out on our dedicated migration page. In short: grab your TV Time archive, drop it into Seenr, and your history is rebuilt with its original dates. Note that TV Time shuts down on 15 July 2026: after that date, the archive can no longer be retrieved.
Yes. Seenr reads Letterboxd and IMDb exports, and for Trakt you connect your account directly. It brings over your watched films, your ratings, your watchlist and your lists. It all happens in the import settings.
