It’s so interesting how our experience of movies change over time, of course influenced by the more modern day movies that we watch. Though I must be honest and say that I don’t quite remember how scary this movie was to me 30-40 years ago, I know this time around I laughed quite a lot. Very fun to watch together with a group of movie buddies. 0

Went to this movie, knowing nothing about it, not even that it was a Dutch movie, so imagine my surprise. As with a lot of Dutch movies (imo) this was a let down, though I do think it had potential. The characters however were annoying young adults acting out like adolescents. And worse, there were just too many scenes that didn’t make sense. 0

Was this a movie with a lot of layers and depth? No. Was it entertaining? Absolutely! It completely grabbed my attention, pulling me in and making me forget my surroundings. It most definitely does not deserve the very low ratings it’s getting. But then again, I knew what to expect. And it delivered. 0

Eerie, uneasy and strange vibes is what gives this movie its horror quality more than the little gore it shows. Watched this with a group of friends so while chatting I definitely missed some details so I’m definitely rewatching. Preferably an early morning show so that I hopefully will be alone in the dark cinema…. Will complete my review then. 0

I always find it hard to rate these movies: did I like it because it was a great movie, well executed and with good acting… Or did I like it because the theme is an emotional one and it touched my heart because of that…. 0

Great movie, that starts out slow and a bit confusing but slowly leads you to the revealing end. Movies with alternate timelines always have me thinking deeply how everything connects and this movie did this beautifully. Doesn’t feel like a 2 hour movie at all. 0

Need to think on this rating, cause I really liked it, especially the message that was given seeing everything that’s being going on like books from the past changed to fit the present... But apparently had I watched the 1966 movie or read the book, I wouldn’t have liked it that much. Will have to wait and see. 0

A movie with serious themes and a little bit of humor to try and lighten it up a bit. Unfortunately a few details really didn’t fit the time period. I was not sure if this was meant pure as comedy but that part didn’t work for me. 0

Though I do like musicals this movie had way too much singing for my liking. The last half hour was better: normal dialogue with a song where a song was fit. Loved the premise of different fairy tales meeting each other. 0

Not sure if this movie was meant to be funny, or that it was meant to be artistic, or whatever but it didn’t really work for me. Though I did find the premise promising, it just wasn’t the movie for me. 0

I keep changing my rating from 6/10 to 7/10 and back. I really liked the movie, especially seeing that I’m not that much into cars and know next to nothing about Ferrari, but it seemed a tad too long, dragging a bit at times. 0

It might not be as good as the original but it’s definitely enjoyable. Lidya Jewett gives a credible performance. And I loved how different belief systems came together instead of it only involving Catholic Church. 0

A movie with oppressive atmosphere that made me feel awkward and unsettled though out it all. But to me it felt like it missed something, I don’t know what, maybe purpose? Until I found out that it was based on the true life story of Mary Kay Letourneau and read about it. The movie doesn’t have an overt narrative that progresses like most movies do. Instead it relies on subtext. From that perspective it’s a very well made movie, and the acting is great. Loved Julianne Moore’s performance. 0

I usually don’t like horror comedies and when this movie started, I was convinced this was one of those movies. But it surprised me! It had me grinning and laughing a couple of times. The jokes were just right, not too over the top. Very diverse set of characters. Yes, a very enjoyable movie! 0

As another reviewer has stated, Hart is one of those actors who do well (enough/ok) in the sidekick role but struggle to lead an entire movie. I love the idea of this movie where Hart makes fun of this, as well as his image and acting abilities. Unfortunately, acting wise he doesn’t pull it off and so we got stuck with a movie that is not funny enough and couldn’t hold my interest even being relatively short. 0

Too much was changed in this adaptation turning it more into a drama than a mystery. Probably if I hadn’t known any of the books, I’d like the movie better (with the exception of the interrogations in the middle of the snow with Branagh only wearing his jacket 🙄). But why change names and relationships, why introduce a character name from a totally different book that had no reason being on that train (Pilar Estravados). Better then to change it up even more, including the title like they did with Hallowe’en Party / A Haunting in Venice. 0

A movie that I will remember for a long time? No, but heck, I don’t remember the details of the best of movies. Was it a decent and entertaining enough watch? Definitely (though I do wonder where Lombardo got that stake). Lukas Haas is very creepy and convincing. 0

Definitely underwhelming… Loved Kaluuya’s no nonsense, cool performance, using his experience with horses/animals. But other than that? Wouldn’t have minded if Emerald had been eaten up by the “creature”, awful performance, not convincing at all. In the end, just an ok story, a tad too long, therefore barely holding my attention. A bad movie? Nope. One of my favorites? Nope…. 0

Could’ve easily been a 9/10 movie: a mix between horror, thriller and mystery, very oppressive and tense, great build up. But that end completely ruined it for me. From being original it ended up being just one more horror movie of its kind. A total waste of potential! 0

More often than not I’m watching a movie and doing something on the side. This however is a very high paced movie which I loved watching with some movie buddies. I think I liked Searching even better (though it’s been a few years), but very much enjoyed this one too. Are there details that may raise some questions or doubts? Probably. But not in a way that took away from my enjoyment! 0
